Intellify, purpose built to enhance productivity and increase employee satisfaction
2019-2022
UX Testing/Prototyping/UI Design
Mercer brokers prior to Intellify would spend weeks if not months compiling handwritten notes, and unsurmountable excel sheets to track their clients insurance coverage and product needs.
The Intellify platform seeks to relieve these pain-points by automating data entry and using AI to search and fill in the data heavy fields with existing data.
Project Brief
I was brought onto the project while UX was being developed to understand the workflow and refine the experience from a technical perspective. Creating a more streamlined workflow in a single app from a tangle of excel sheets and notes scribbled down during meetings.
Approach
Through interviewing mercer brokers and discussing concepts and ideas with the product business team, we started with interpreting the data fields from the excel templates currently used into an easy to use interface with upload and note taking capabilities for the MVP.
Main Objective
The automated upload feature was important for us to improve in order to relieve pain points that brokers encounter, especially around their current workflow of inputting active plans into the system. The first heavy lift was to input historical plan data for all of the existing US based Mercer Health clients.
We determined that our main objective is to increase the ease of getting information into the system.
CHallenges and COmpromises
As MVP came to a close and covid drew production down to a halt we had may features left on the cutting block. Unfortunately, during this time one of our main challenges is the lack of resources and time that we have day to day, as like most small agencies, we’re stretched quite thin! With this challenge, we often have to reiterate our designs in order to be achievable within time and technical constraints, while still providing more value to our users.
In one version, I wanted to include a full fledged wizard to guide users through the whole journey of creating RFP’s (request for proposal) and marketing plans. We compromised and designed a slim down version to nudge the users and provide previous years data as a benchmark to create new or modify existing plans and coverages.
I included a dashboard the “Client Snapshot” as a hub for the broker to monitor all of their current plans. As well as track progress of RFP’s and Marketings.
TESTING TESTING
User testing was a big part of the success of Intellify as an application. Together with Figma walkthroughs and the eventual use of Maze to gather hard data on how our user base interacted with the workflow and which paths they chose to complete their journeys.
Next Steps
The released version of the platform has been well received by the Mercer brokers. However, there are still improvements that can be made. A broker/consultant should be able to filter their data even more, and customize the view based on their needs.
We helped design a foundation that allowed us to build on top of, adding in a home features and functionality such as adding additional complex lines of coverage and real time push notifications when plans and coverages are ready to renew . The patterns and designs created will help inform future parts of the product as we constantly strive to improve our consultants experience.
